Working with two cameras and different lenses allows me to capture both the wider atmosphere and intimate reactions without constantly moving around during the ceremony.

The moments immediately after the ceremony are usually filled with excitement.
A confetti photograph is a fantastic way to capture this energy and bring all the guests together in one joyful image.

Afterwards, I normally recommend allocating a short period for family and group photographs. Preparing a list of the essential combinations before the wedding helps us complete these photographs efficiently.

This means you can have beautiful photographs with parents, grandparents, siblings, bridesmaids, groomsmen and close friends without spending too much of your reception standing in formal groups.

Once the essential photographs are complete, we can also create some fun and informal group pictures.

I don't believe a wedding photo shoot needs to take a large part of the day.
Instead, I prefer short and relaxed portrait sessions. Around 10–15 minutes can be enough to create a beautiful selection of photographs before returning to the celebration.

My approach combines natural movement with gentle direction. I may suggest the best location, light or position, but I want the interaction between the couple to remain genuine.

Walking together, talking, laughing and enjoying a few quiet minutes away from the reception often produces photographs that feel much more personal than heavily posed portraits.

And if we suddenly get ten minutes of beautiful light outside, we can use that opportunity for a quick couple photo shoot.

Before guests enter, I like to photograph the reception space and all the details that the couple has carefully chosen: flowers, table decorations, stationery, wedding favours, candles and the wedding cake.

Once everyone is seated, I concentrate on interactions.
Instead of asking guests to constantly look at the camera, I photograph conversations, laughter, hugs and spontaneous moments around the tables.

These photographs become an important record of the atmosphere of the wedding and often include moments the couple didn't personally see during such a busy day.

Speeches are one of my favourite parts of a wedding reception to photograph because you never know exactly what will happen.
While photographing the person speaking is important, I spend just as much time looking for reactions around the room.

A bride laughing at the best man's story, parents becoming emotional, friends reacting to an unexpected joke or the couple quietly holding hands can tell far more about the atmosphere than a photograph of the speaker alone.

These little moments are what make every wedding gallery unique.

As the celebration moves into the evening, the style of photography naturally changes.

If there is an opportunity for beautiful evening light, I may suggest taking the couple outside for another very short photo session. It doesn't need to interrupt the reception—even five or ten minutes can create a completely different set of portraits.

Afterwards, I photograph the cake cutting, first dance and evening party.

During the dancing, I often combine available light with flash photography to capture movement, expressions and the energy of the dance floor.

This gives the final wedding gallery a completely different atmosphere from the soft natural-light photographs created earlier in the day.
