Wedding in Montenegro

I'm Elvira Azimova, a wedding photographer based in London, and I recently had the incredible opportunity to photograph a summer wedding in Kotor, Montenegro. This enchanting destination, known as one of the perfect wedding locations in Europe, provided the ideal backdrop for an intimate wedding for two, and I couldn't wait to bring my vision to life.

The day began in the historic town of Kotor, where the couple exchanged their vows against the backdrop of ancient stone walls and the shimmering Adriatic Sea. As a photographer for weddings at the sea, I was thrilled to capture these precious moments with the breathtaking scenery.

As the day progressed and the sun began to set, I decided to take the newlyweds to an extraordinary and unexpected location: an abandoned quarry, a former mining site that I knew would add a dramatic flair to their wedding photos.

The journey to this unique location was an adventure in itself. Navigating the narrow serpentine road that led up the mountainside was thrilling, to say the least. At one point, I had to step out of the car to safely execute a U-turn on the precarious path. "The height down was enormous," I thought, "but what can you do for beautiful wedding shots?"

When we finally reached the quarry, I was struck by the vast, rugged landscape. It provided a stark yet stunning contrast to the tender moments of the couple. As evening settled in, I used my wide-angle lens to frame the newlyweds against the expansive backdrop, creating images that were both dramatic and intimate. The setting sun cast a golden glow, adding a touch of magic to the sea wedding photo shoot.

The excitement of the day didn’t end there. In a spontaneous and exhilarating moment, the couple decided to jump into the sea, their joy and love evident in every splash. Capturing their leap into the cool, clear waters of the Adriatic was a highlight, symbolizing their plunge into a new life together.

One particular image from this series stood out. It captured the couple in a perfect embrace amidst the grandeur of the quarry. To my delight, this photograph won the prestigious 'Photo of the Year' award on MyWed, a testament to the hard work and dedication that went into this shoot. I am incredibly proud of this achievement.
